Sweet Corn Fiesta

On April 30, 2017, Guardians CU sponsored the Sweet Corn Fiesta. Local farmers brought in corn and vegetables that were grown in western Palm Beach County. There were corn shucking and eating contests, country music, rides and fun for the whole family. We were the only financial institution that sponsored this year. Employees gave out 750 credit union bags with information inside.

March for Babies

On April 29, 2017, Guardians CU supported the WPB March for Babies at CityPlace in Downtown West Palm Beach. We accepted donations from employees and a donation was made on behalf of the credit union in order to help give "a fighting chance for every baby."

St. Lucie County Safety Festival

On April 29, 2017, Guardians CU was proud to support the "guardians" of our community — our first responders — at the SLC Safety Festival. The event was held at First Date Field in Port St. Lucie and showcased demonstrations from St. Lucie County and Port St. Lucie First Responders. We handed out giveaways and coloring books for children in attendance as well as information about the credit union to families.

Street Painting Festival

On February 25 and 26, 2017, Guardians CU sponsored the 23rd Annual Street Painting Festival in Lake Worth. Artists from all over the country displayed their work on the streets of downtown Lake Worth. Held each year at the height of the tourist season, this event attracts more than 100,000 visitors. This is the largest event of its kind in the world. Our employees answered many questions about the credit union and distributed lots of informative material. Guardians even provided face painting for children both days of the event. As part of our involvement, we also sponsored one of the artists whose finalized artwork is pictured.

Pirate Fest

On February 3 — 5, 2017, Guardians CU sponsored the 8th Annual Treasure Coast Pirate Fest. Our Fort Pierce and West Palm Beach branches were represented as we handed out credit union information and told about the CU difference! We enjoyed the live music, vendors, food and festivities with our St. Lucie County members and friends! We also enjoyed distributing our special pirate hats for the children who attended! The estimated attendance for the festival was 25,000 for the three day event.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

On January 28, 2017, Guardians Credit Union participated in the 2017 Race for the Cure supporting breast cancer awareness and research. We were honored to support and encourage the fighters, survivors, and those who lost the battle to this terrible disease. Prior to the event, Guardians Credit Union sold special pink breast cancer awareness lapel pins to members and employees to raise money for the cause. Through the generosity of our employees and members, we were able to raise $175! Fifteen employees participated in the 5K race and walk.

Small Business Bow Tie Run

On January 21, 2017, Guardians CU sponsored the Small Business Bow Tie 5K at John Prince Park. The Greater Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce's mission is to "connect businesses to everything that creates success." Guardians CU was proud to support that endeavor to meet local business men and women and show our support for the Boynton Beach Soup Kitchen who was the beneficiary of the proceeds of the event. Seven employees participated in the 5K with some placing in their age group!


Guardians Credit Union once again sponsored three families this year for the holidays through Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches Holiday Adopter Program. We received information sheets on each family and what they wished to have. We did our best to purchase as many items on the list as possible after raising over $1,000. Our Guardians elves purchased and wrapped the gifts. The gifts were given to Adopt-A-Family to distribute to the families. On December 10, 2016 our entire Boynton Beach branch volunteered to wrap presents and shop with the children at the Santa Shoppe, which allows children to pick out gifts for their families.

AVDA Race for Hope 5K

On Saturday, December 3, 2016, Guardians CU employees participated in the 17th Annual Race for Hope benefitting Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse. Originally, the race was supposed to take place in October during Domestic Violence Awareness month, however due to Hurricane Matthew, the race was postponed until December. All proceeds supported AVDA's programs and services to survivors of domestic abuse and their children. Seven employees participated and one of our own finished 2nd in his age group!

Walk to End Alzheimer's

On November 19, 2016, Guardians Credit Union was a proud sponsor of the 2016 West Palm Beach Walk to End Alzheimer's at City Place in downtown West Palm Beach. Employees and their families participated in the walk and were able to hand out information about the credit union difference to attendees at our booth. Through our sponsorship, participation in a bowling fundraiser earlier in the year, and donations from our members and employees, Guardians CU contributed over $1,500 to the Alzheimer's Association! We proudly displayed the names of our member and employee supporters at our West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach and Lake Worth branches showing our support of those affected by the disease.

New Horizons Race for Recovery 5K

On October 1, 2016, Guardians Credit Union was a proud sponsor of the Race for Recovery 5K benefitting New Horizons of the Treasure Coast. The mission of New Horizons is to deliver accessible behavioral and primary health care services to children, adults and families to achieve mental and physical wellness, and to improve the quality of life in the community. Our Ft. Pierce branch employees and their families participated in the 5K which helped to raise money to provide care to those who are on the road to recovery.

Children's Fire Safety Day

On October 1, 2016 Guardians CU attended an event to promote fire safety at the Home Depot in Palm Beach Gardens. Fire Rescue was on hand doing demonstrations and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office was also a participant, fingerprinting and providing ID's for children. We spoke to those in attendance about children's accounts as well as accounts and loans to their parents.

    Latin Music & Food Festival

    Guardians Credit Union participated in the 1st annual Latin Food & Music Festival of the Palm Beaches at the South Florida Fairgrounds on September 17–18, 2016. Our employees volunteered to promote the credit union to our community in both English and Spanish. Attendees received information about the credit union, as well as a chance to enter a raffle for two $50 gift cards and other Guardians CU prizes. Guardians is a proud supporter and member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches who helped to produce the event and provided family friendly fun for our community.

    7th Annual Backpack Giveaway

    This year our West Palm Beach, Lake Worth and Boynton Beach branches were drop-off locations for the 7th Annual Backpack Giveaway for the City of South Bay. This event was to help assure the students from the City of South Bay and surrounding areas were prepared for the upcoming school year with the necessary backpacks and supplies. Through the generosity of our members and employees, we delivered a trunk full of backpacks and school supplies for the giveaway that was held on Saturday, August 6, 2016.

    T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society Community Health Fair

    On August 6, 2016, Guardians Credit Union participated in the T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society's Community Health Fair hosted by FoundCare in Palm Springs. Students and children were able to receive free back-to-school physicals and immunizations for children 2 months through 12th grade. School supplies were also available for families who received the health care. Guardians Credit Union provided free pencils and coloring books for the children, as well as information about the credit union for the parents!

    St. Lucie Mets Community Night

    Guardians Credit Union sponsored a community night at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie on Friday, July 29, 2016. This community night was dedicated to our furry friends and pets. Attendees could bring their dogs and the proceeds benefitted the St. Lucie County Humane Society. Guardians Credit Union provided free hats and goodies to the first 150–200 attendees that entered the park.

    Everyday Hero Awards Luncheon

    On July 13, 2016, Guardians Credit Union was proud to sponsor the 9th Annual Everyday Hero Awards Luncheon in conjunction with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Black Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County. The luncheon was a tribute to those who have dared to make a difference in our community. Attendees were able to hear an inspiring message from Ms. Noble Lockhart-Mays, M.Ed., who shared how she started Faith's Place Centers for Arts and Education, Inc., offering afterschool arts enrichment programs. Her students also performed for the attendees of the luncheon at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport. Eight community leaders were nominated from fields in healthcare, education, family and faith. Guardians CU was proud to support the "guardians" or heroes of our community who continue to make an impact every day!

      Stuff the Bus

      On July 16, 2016, our Ft. Pierce Office volunteered at the 20th Annual School Supplies for Students program with the United Way of St. Lucie County. They volunteered at the Walmart on Gatlin Boulevard in Port St. Lucie collecting donations and supplies. We filled three carts full for Stuff the Bus! The goal is to provide 5,000 underserved children with supplies for the upcoming school year. All Guardians CU locations are also public drop-off stations for our members and the public until the beginning of August.

      Strike Out Alzheimer's

      On June 14, 2016, Guardians Credit Union participated in Strike Out Alzheimer's to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. The money raised goes toward our local Walk to End Alzheimer's later in October. We had 15 employees in three teams of five who participated and raised over $400 to support the Alzheimer's Association!

      Run with the Cops 5K

      On June 11, 2016, Guardians Credit Union participated in the inaugural Run with the Cops 5K benefitting the West Palm Beach Police Foundation. A team of employees participated in the 5K, with two employees coming in 1st and 2nd in their age group. We cheered on several of our members who are officers and leaders in our city. A team also greeted participants by offering information about the credit union, giving away free goodies, and answering questions. We are proud to support the guardians of our city! The Guardians CU team even got to pose in the West Palm Beach Police SWAT team vehicle that was on-site!

      Little Free Library

      Guardians Credit Union donated funds to purchase two Little Free Libraries in Lake Worth. The Little Free Library Program provides boxes around town with free books inside for people to read and return or replenish with different books. The ribbon cutting ceremony was held on May 27, 2016.

      Flavor Run

      On April 30, 2016, Guardians Credit Union participated in the Flavor Run 5K in Fort Pierce. This year the run supported United Against Poverty which serves the people of the Treasure Coast. Their mission is to provide a hand up for those in need, helping them to break free from poverty by offering hunger relief, crisis care, transformative education and employment training opportunities.


      Guardians Credit Union hosted our 3rd Annual Shredfest on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the West Palm Beach Office. Members and the community took advantage of the event to shred their sensitive documents. While there was no charge to participate, we accepted voluntary donations for the Guardians Credit Union Charity Fund. We received $120! We also offered free credit reports and performed account maintenance for interested members. We pulled 18 free credit reports and opened one new account.
